Engineering Manager (Platform - Application Excellence)

About the role

We’re looking for an ambitious Engineering Manager to lead our Application Excellence (AppEx) team within the Platform group. The team improves internal developer experience, builds self‑serve tooling and removes operational friction so product engineers can focus on their domains. You will report to the Director of Engineering and influence the way every engineer at Paddle builds and ships software.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the AppEx team from concept through rollout, delivering high‑quality initiatives that boost developer productivity.
• Own the internal developer experience, synthesize feedback across the organization and define a clear roadmap.
• Coordinate with SRE, Security, Principal Engineers and leadership to align on technical decisions.
• Coach and mentor engineers, fostering personal growth and high‑impact performance.
• Maintain shared libraries and tools used by dozens of services, ensuring safe rollouts and reliability.

Required profile

• Significant experience as a senior engineer on large‑scale, cloud‑based systems (Go experience a plus).
• At least 2 years of management experience with multiple direct reports at two different companies.
• Proven ability to gather feedback, build trust and align stakeholders before execution.
• Comfort with ambiguity, shaping loosely‑defined problems into clear, sequenced plans.
• Strong understanding of what makes a high‑performing, sustainable engineering team.
