Engineering Technician

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our Manchester team. This hands‑on position supports the maintenance, installation and continuous improvement of plant equipment, ensuring reliable operation across mechanical and electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance on engineering equipment to maximise uptime.
• Diagnose and resolve technical faults quickly, minimising operational disruption.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and testing of new machinery and systems.
• Carry out routine inspections, record work performed and maintain accurate documentation.
• Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to engineering projects.
• Ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety regulations and internal procedures.
• Coordinate with other departments and external contractors as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Engineering Technician or in a similar hands‑on engineering role.
• Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities across mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Proactive, self‑motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate across departments.
• Based in or able to commute to Manchester.
