English Lecturer (GCSE & Functional Skills) – Variable Hours

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic English Lecturer to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills courses to adult learners at The Place in Great Yarmouth. The role is permanent but based on variable hours, offering flexibility while supporting our mission to make education accessible.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging English lessons for GCSE and Functional Skills programmes.
• Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Adapt teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of adult students.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and achievement.
• Contribute to the continuous development of the curriculum and teaching practice.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths, with evidence of qualification.
• Passion for adult education and ability to motivate learners.
• Willingness to obtain a recognised teaching qualification within three years if not already held.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.

Required skills

• Strong command of English language and grammar.
• Effective communication and presentation abilities.
