ESOL Trainer – Adult Skills (6‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are seeking an ESOL Trainer to deliver adult skills programmes for learners aged 19+ on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. The role involves assessing learner needs, creating personalised learning plans and delivering accredited or non‑accredited training across a range of subjects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑course screenings, diagnostic assessments and develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) with SMART targets.
• Design and deliver engaging lessons in English, Maths, Digital skills and other vocational subjects, tailoring activities to learners’ goals and employment sectors.
• Provide ongoing mentorship, motivation and personal‑development support to help learners progress towards employment or further study.
• Produce and adapt learning resources and bespoke materials to meet learner and employer requirements.
• Record and maintain accurate learner data (hard copy and electronic) and ensure evidence is audit‑ready.
• Monitor learner progress using MIS/ILR data, review ILPs regularly and intervene where performance trends indicate shortfalls.
• Ensure safeguarding, personal development, behaviour and attitude (PDBA) themes are embedded in all delivery.

Required profile

• Experience delivering ESOL or adult education training to learners aged 19+.
• Ability to assess learner needs and create tailored learning plans.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a caseload and maintain accurate records.
• Commitment to inclusive practice, supporting learners with SEND or additional learning needs.
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
