Event Director – Global Awards Portfolio

About the role

As Event Director you will lead the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of the 50 Best global awards programmes and events. Reporting to the Head of Events, you will translate strategic priorities into operational plans and ensure the portfolio meets commercial, customer and operational objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Direct end‑to‑end operational delivery of a global portfolio of awards programmes, ensuring consistency, quality and excellence.
• Plan, mobilise and deliver new events with appropriate governance, resources, budgets and timelines.
• Maintain the events function’s capability, capacity and performance standards to meet business needs.
• Provide leadership, coaching and development to nurture a culture of accountability and collaboration.
• Allocate people, budgets and resources effectively to support commercial objectives.
• Develop and implement operational frameworks, processes and systems to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Build and manage relationships with suppliers, venues and external partners, overseeing negotiation and performance.
• Establish robust governance, compliance and risk management across the portfolio.
• Act as primary escalation point for live event delivery issues and guide crisis management.
• Report portfolio performance and operational risks to the Head of Events and support strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading large‑scale international event portfolios or awards programmes.
• Proven expertise in operational leadership, event delivery and portfolio management.
• Strong commercial and financial management capability.
• Demonstrated ability to develop organisational capability and lead high‑performing teams.
• Experience establishing and managing supplier, venue and partner relationships.
