Event Planner – Railway Safety Events

About the role

The British Transport Police are seeking an Event Planner to coordinate football and Level 2 events across the rail network. You will work closely with Event Commanders, operational teams and external partners to ensure events are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with corporate standards.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with Event Commanders and stakeholders before, during and after events to capture requirements and support debriefs.
• Prepare and maintain event plans, Operational Orders and related documentation for football and Level 2 events.
• Develop contingency arrangements, decision logs and adapt plans to changing intelligence and resource availability.
• Provide real‑time support to Gold, Silver and Bronze Commanders during events and incidents.
• Represent BTP at Safety Advisory Group meetings and other external planning forums.
• Act as the BTP liaison within the Event Control Room for major events.
• Coordinate welfare and accommodation arrangements for planned and spontaneous events.

Required profile

• Minimum A‑Level education or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience working in a security, policing or large‑scale event environment is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Office365.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams.
