Executive Director, Global Engagement

About the role
The Executive Director, Global Engagement will lead Western University’s institution‑wide global engagement strategy. Reporting directly to the President and Vice‑Chancellor, this senior leader will shape international partnerships, research collaborations, and student mobility initiatives that advance the university’s global impact.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the Western in the World Global Engagement Plan (2023–2030).
- Coordinate international activities across faculties, units, and senior leadership missions abroad.
- Build and maintain relationships with governments, diplomatic representatives, and leading international organisations.
- Identify high‑impact partnership opportunities and translate them into actionable projects.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on global trends and cultural‑political environments.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in international relations, global partnerships, or external engagement within a complex organisation, preferably higher education.
- Proven ability to advise senior executives and navigate diverse cultural and political contexts.
- Strong judgment, persuasive communication, and capacity to inspire trust among internal and external stakeholders.
