Executive Director, Personal Support (England)

About the role

The Executive Director, Personal Support (England) leads Mencap’s national personal support portfolio, overseeing strategy, performance and transformation for a service worth £185 million and supporting around 4,000 people.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategy, performance and transformation of a major national service portfolio.
• Drive consistently high‑quality, person‑centred support across services.
• Build strong relationships with commissioners, regulators and system partners.
• Shape and future‑proof the service mix, including specialist provision.
• Deliver sustainable growth aligned with impact and financial performance.
• Lead and inspire a workforce of over 4,500 colleagues.
• Contribute to Mencap’s overall leadership and model its values.
• Champion the Belonging, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion agenda.

Required profile

• Senior, values‑led leader with experience operating at scale in complex, multi‑site environments.
• Proven track record of delivering high‑quality, person‑centred services.
• Experience leading growth, transformation and large‑scale operations.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen.
• Executive‑level experience, including Board engagement.
• Credibility with commissioners, regulators and partners.
• Ability to lead and inspire large, dispersed teams.
• Commitment to Mencap’s mission and values; experience in learning disability services is highly desirable.
