Experienced Social Worker - Adults Safeguarding

About the role

Our client, Wirral MBC, is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Adults Safeguarding team. You will lead safeguarding enquiries, manage a complex caseload and work closely with health, police and voluntary partners to protect vulnerable adults.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate safeguarding enquiries under the Care Act 2014.
• Triaging new concerns as part of the Duty Rota.
• Manage a diverse and complex adult caseload with professional judgement.
• Conduct strengths‑based assessments and develop outcome‑focused support plans.
• Complete Mental Capacity Assessments when required.
• Facilitate Making Safeguarding Personal Conversations to shape risk planning.
• Collaborate with health partners, police, care providers and voluntary organisations.
• Apply legislation, policy and best practice to protect adults from harm or abuse.
• Provide professional advice and guidance to colleagues and partner agencies.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Strong experience in adult safeguarding or similar statutory adult services.
• Excellent analytical, communication and report‑writing abilities.
• Confidence in managing risk and making evidence‑based decisions.
• Ability to work flexibly, proactively and as part of a supportive team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and related safeguarding legislation.
• Ability to conduct Mental Capacity Assessments.
