Facilities & Compliance Officer – Westonbirt Arboretum

About the role
The Facilities & Compliance Officer will join the Capital Development Team at Westonbirt Arboretum, overseeing a diverse estate of more than 30 buildings and structures. Reporting to the Building Surveyor, you will ensure that all facilities remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose while supporting staff, visitors, contractors and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead delivery of statutory building compliance, covering fire safety, asbestos, legionella, gas, electrical systems, DSEAR and lifting equipment.
- Monitor compliance performance, identify risks and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate property records and compliance documentation using digital property‑management systems.
- Coordinate maintenance programmes, statutory inspections and specialist contractor works.
- Procure works through approved frameworks, manage budgets and monitor contractor health, safety and environmental performance.
- Track energy and water consumption, supporting sustainability and Net‑Zero initiatives.
- Oversee private utility networks, respond to failures and coordinate remedial actions.
- Conduct building and site security assessments, including CCTV oversight where required.
- Provide guidance to colleagues on facilities‑related tasks and support minor estate projects.
Required profile
- Proven experience in facilities management, property compliance or building management.
- Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and health‑and‑safety requirements for buildings.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations 2015 and construction‑related responsibilities.
- Experience supervising contractor activities and managing budgets.
- Ability to travel across the estate and conduct on‑site inspections.
