Family Court Adviser – Qualified Social Worker

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Family Court Adviser who is a qualified social worker to join our busy team in Brighton. You will support families across Sussex and Surrey, providing expert advice and assessments that influence court decisions and protect children’s welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive assessments and deliver expert advice to Family Courts.
• Prepare high‑quality reports and recommendations for private and public law proceedings.
• Engage directly with children and families to understand their needs and experiences.
• Analyse complex information and make evidence‑based recommendations that promote the best interests of children.
• Liaise with local authorities, legal professionals and partner agencies.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Significant post‑qualification experience in children’s social work.
• Previous experience as a Family Court Adviser, CAFCASS officer, or similar safeguarding/court role is highly desirable.
• Strong report‑writing, assessment and analytical abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
