Family Solicitor - Childcare

About the role

We are partnering with a respected law firm to recruit a Family Solicitor specialising in childcare. The successful candidate will join a supportive Family Law team, working on publicly funded children cases and developing a personal caseload under close supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Assist and progressively manage a caseload of public law childcare matters.
• Advise and represent parents, family members and children in care proceedings, Emergency Protection Orders, Interim Care Orders, Special Guardianship Orders and adoption placements.
• Prepare legal documents, witness statements, applications and correspondence.
• Attend court hearings, client meetings and multi‑disciplinary conferences.
• Liaise with local authorities, Children’s Guardians, experts and other professionals.
• Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and regulatory obligations.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales or about to qualify.
• Genuine interest in public law children work and a desire to build a specialist career.
• Relevant experience gained during a training contract, paralegal role or legal placement.
• Excellent communication, organisational and client‑care abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy legal environment.
