Family Solicitor – Childcare Law

About the role

G2 Legal Limited, a well‑established regional law firm, is seeking a Family Solicitor to join its expanding Family Law team in Rochdale. The role focuses on public‑law childcare matters, providing vital support to vulnerable children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Manage an independent caseload of public‑law childcare matters.
• Handle care proceedings, including Emergency Protection Orders, Interim Care Orders, Special Guardianship Orders, Supervision Orders and adoption‑related matters.
• Represent parents, grandparents and other family members throughout proceedings.
• Develop advocacy skills where appropriate.
• Liaise with local authorities, Children’s Guardians and other professionals involved in each case.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with at least 1 year post‑qualification experience.
• Experience managing public‑law childcare matters.
• Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and related legislation.
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation and communication abilities.
• Compassionate, client‑focused approach with the capacity to support vulnerable clients.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a busy caseload.
• Children Law Accreditation desirable but not essential.
