Family & Systemic Psychotherapist (Hybrid, Full‑Time)

About the role

Southend-on-Sea City Council is establishing a new Multi‑Disciplinary Family Help Service. The successful candidate will deliver systemic psychotherapy and trauma‑informed interventions to children, young people and families facing complex challenges, working alongside social workers and multi‑agency partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist systemic psychotherapy and trauma‑informed therapy to children, young people and families.
• Offer expert consultation, reflective practice and guidance to practitioners and managers.
• Lead risk assessments, safety planning and safeguarding interventions.
• Support families affected by domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health difficulties and complex safeguarding concerns.
• Promote systemic, strengths‑based, evidence‑informed practice across Children’s Services.
• Contribute to service development and embed systemic principles throughout the organisation.

Required profile

• Degree or Masters in Family & Systemic Psychotherapy.
• UKCP registration as a Family & Systemic Psychotherapist.
• AFT‑accredited qualifying training.
• Significant experience working with children, young people and families.
• Strong safeguarding, child protection, risk assessment and multi‑agency working experience.
• Excellent communication, consultation and relationship‑building skills.
