Field Interviewer – Brighton

About the role

As a Field Interviewer you will travel to households across Brighton and surrounding areas to conduct face‑to‑face research interviews on topics such as health, housing and transport. Using a tablet or laptop you will guide conversations, record responses and help capture real‑world experiences that inform public policy.

Key responsibilities

• Visit pre‑selected homes and conduct structured interviews with residents.
• Use a tablet or laptop to enter data directly into the survey system.
• Manage travel logistics, including mileage reporting and time‑tracking.
• Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality during all interactions.
• Report any issues or refusals to the project coordinator promptly.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
• Class 1 business insurance for vehicle use.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete a DBS check.
• Reliable home broadband and a laptop or tablet with a camera.
• At least 18 hours of availability per week, with flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English skills.

What we offer

• £20‑£30 per completed interview (typical rate).
• Admin fees and holiday pay (12.1%).
• Travel time paid at £4.68 per hour.
• Mileage reimbursement at 36p per mile (up to 10,000 miles).
• Performance bonuses: £250 after launch, then at two and four months.
• Average hourly rate of approximately £15.12, with higher rates for experienced interviewers.
