Field Service Engineer – Electronics

About the role

As an Electronics Field Service Engineer you will maintain, repair, calibrate and commission specialist gas detection equipment while delivering excellent customer service. The role is based in the Swindon to Chippenham area and involves travelling to customer sites across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Service, calibrate and repair electronic gas detection equipment.
• Test equipment thoroughly after each visit to ensure full operational status.
• Complete accurate service reports and required documentation.
• Coordinate jobs with the Service Administration team.
• Support colleagues on larger, multi‑person projects when required.
• Maintain van stock, calibration tools, PPE and service equipment.
• Deliver customer training once fully qualified.
• Travel within the Swindon‑Chippenham area, including occasional two‑person jobs.

Required profile

• HNC/HND in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (preferred).
• Experience troubleshooting or repairing electronic equipment.
• Field Service Engineering experience advantageous but not essential.
• Commissioning or installation experience desirable.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• IPAF, Confined Space or Safety Passport desirable – training provided.
• Physically active and able to work in confined spaces when required.
