Finance Assistant – Hybrid Role in Amesbury

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Finance Assistant to join our finance team in Amesbury. Working on a hybrid schedule, you will combine on‑site collaboration with flexible remote days. The role offers a fast‑paced environment where you can make an immediate impact and develop your finance skills.

Key responsibilities

• Match and process purchase ledger invoices and reconcile supplier statements.
• Check purchase orders for accuracy and close them when no longer required.
• Process staff reimbursable and credit‑card expenses.
• Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile fuel, vehicle hire and plant hire payments.
• Manage the finance email inbox and support colleagues with sales ledger invoices, project activations and debt chasing.
• Contribute to system and process improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in accounts payable and general bookkeeping.
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with staff at all levels.
• Proactive approach to tasks and continuous improvement.
• Desirable: experience with project management software and interpreting contract payment terms; AAT Level 2 or equivalent.

• Xero accounting software.
• Advanced Excel.
