Finance Assistant

About the role

This Finance Assistant role offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast‑growing organisation in Southampton. You will support a dynamic finance team during a period of rapid expansion and acquisitions, helping to shape key business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day accounting and administrative finance activities.
• Own finance processes that align with the company’s strategic growth plans.
• Produce accurate financial information for business decision‑making.
• Collaborate with multiple departments to deliver reliable and timely financial data.
• Assist with integration of newly acquired businesses and related finance processes.
• Identify and implement improvements to existing systems, procedures and ways of working.
• Support finance projects and operational initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
• Help with financial reporting, reconciliations and analysis as required.
• Contribute to the development of efficient, scalable finance processes.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to the wider finance team based on business needs.

Required profile

• Previous experience in finance, accounts or bookkeeping.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑changing, high‑growth environment.
• Proactive, self‑motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude and openness to new challenges.
• Experience in a high‑growth or acquisitive business, preferably with exposure to M&A activities.
• Background in the care sector or another regulated industry is a plus.

Required skills

• Competent IT skills, including experience with finance systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
