Finance Director

About the role

This is a senior, on‑site Finance Director position with a privately owned business in Cumbria employing over 300 staff and generating £45 million turnover. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the Board, you will act as a strategic partner shaping the company’s future while overseeing all financial governance, reporting and control functions.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Managing Director and Board on strategic decision‑making.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and long‑term financial planning.
• Drive commercial performance, profitability and operational efficiency.
• Develop robust reporting, KPI dashboards and business‑intelligence tools.
• Support investment decisions, business‑improvement projects and growth initiatives.
• Oversee finance systems, digital development and continuous improvement.
• Strengthen governance, risk management and financial controls.
• Build and inspire a high‑performing finance team.

Required profile

• Proven senior finance leadership experience, ideally within transport, logistics or manufacturing.
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification with significant post‑qualified experience.
• Strong technical finance capability combined with commercial judgement.
• Detail‑oriented, comfortable in a fast‑paced, complex environment.
• Motivated by building, improving and influencing finance functions.
