Finance Manager (Part‑time, 2 days/week, Fixed‑term)

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Finance Manager to join a leading not‑for‑profit arts and education organisation in London. The role is a 1‑year fixed‑term contract, working two days a week (10:00‑18:00) and may be extended. You will support the Head of Finance and Operations in maintaining financial control and delivering accurate accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day finance and accounting processes, including payments, receipts and bank account liaison.
• Oversee in‑house payroll, pension providers and PAYE/NIC, ensuring accurate reconciliation.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards and other transactions.
• Assist with cash‑flow monitoring, aged debtors and creditors, and quarterly VAT returns.
• Supervise the Development Team in submitting quarterly Gift Aid.
• Maintain financial control procedures, signing authorities and expense policies.
• Prepare quarterly management accounts, six‑month forecasts and support budget preparation.
• Collaborate with programme, communications, development and senior management to provide financial information for budgeting and fundraising.
• Support year‑end accounts, annual audit and occasional key‑holder duties.

Required profile

• Relevant finance experience, preferably within the charity or not‑for‑profit sector.
• Strong understanding of payroll, VAT and Gift Aid processes.
• Interest in the arts, heritage or cultural sector.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
