Finance Officer – Temp to Perm (South West London)

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Officer to join a busy education organisation in South West London. The role starts on a temporary basis with the potential to become permanent, offering full‑time, office‑based work.

Key responsibilities

• Process orders, invoices and payments using Xero and ensure timely monthly reconciliations.
• Raise purchase orders, match them to invoices, set up new suppliers and run weekly BACS payments.
• Assist with reconciliation of non‑staffing budget expenditure and produce termly charges and statements for departments.
• Handle petty cash, journal entries for printing and IT costs, and maintain accurate filing and records.
• Liaise with suppliers and budget holders, investigate queries and support the Interim Finance Director with specific accounts.
• Provide general office administration such as handling calls, communications and issuing lunch cards.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Finance Officer, Finance Assistant or Accounts Payable role within the education sector.
• Proven use of PS Financials and Xero for invoice, purchase order and supplier payment processing.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Excellent organisational ability, attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective communication skills.

What we offer

• Salary up to £35,000–£36,000 per year, depending on experience.
