Financial Accountant

About the role

Sheridan Maine is partnering with a leading organisation in Weymouth to hire an experienced Financial Accountant. The role is hybrid, offering two days in the office and three days remote, and provides the chance to own statutory reporting, technical accounting and audit management within a multi‑entity environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of consolidated and subsidiary statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Support statutory reporting across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
• Manage month‑end close activities, including general ledger processes, balance‑sheet reviews and reconciliations.
• Own the external audit process, acting as the primary contact for auditors.
• Provide technical accounting expertise, reviewing changes in standards and preparing technical papers.
• Oversee group balance‑sheet controls, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and enhance finance processes, procedures and controls.
• Mentor a small team, offering guidance and coaching to develop their skills.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical accounting experience.
• Proven experience in statutory reporting and preparing consolidated accounts.
• Experience acting as a key contact during external audits.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex financial information.
• Ability to manage deadlines and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
