Financial Controller – Credit Control & Debtor Management

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Financial Controller to own and manage our debtor ledger end‑to‑end. This role sits at the heart of our finance function, ensuring cash flow stability, protecting customer relationships, and supporting overall business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the debtor ledger, ensuring accurate account set‑up and credit limits.
• Chase outstanding payments in line with company policy and monitor aged debt.
• Identify and act on credit risks early, placing accounts on stop when necessary.
• Collaborate with legal support for escalated matters.
• Issue statements, reminders and maintain debtor days below target levels.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and support the purchase ledger during peak periods.
• Process invoices, maintain accurate financial records and support finance administration.
• Handle customer queries via phone and email, liaising with internal teams to resolve issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit control, accounts receivable or a similar finance role.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Confident, proactive and able to take ownership of tasks.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Ability to challenge processes while maintaining standards.
• Organised with effective workload management skills.
