Financial Controller (Hybrid) – Up to £80,000

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function of a fast‑growing business in London. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be hands‑on in month‑end close, statutory reporting and will have real influence over process improvement as the company scales.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the month‑end and year‑end close process, delivering accurate management accounts.
• Prepare statutory accounts and manage the year‑end audit, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Own the balance sheet, including reconciliations and control‑account reviews.
• Manage and develop a small finance team, including transactional staff.
• Oversee cash‑flow forecasting and working‑capital management.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, corporation tax and other statutory filing requirements.
• Maintain and improve internal controls and financial processes.
• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles in partnership with the FD/CFO.
• Provide accurate, insightful financial information to support commercial decision‑making.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting tools.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Proven experience at Financial Controller level or a senior management accountant ready to step up.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP/FRS 102.
• Experience managing or mentoring a finance team.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience owning the year‑end audit process.
• Desirable: experience in a PE‑backed or high‑growth business, ERP migration or systems implementation, and exposure to the relevant sector.
