Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded Financial Controller to join a growing organisation in Peterborough. The role sits at the heart of the business, providing financial insight, control and strategic partnership to drive performance and long‑term growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day financial control activities and ensure accurate reporting.
• Produce management reports, variance analysis and insightful commentary.
• Maintain balance‑sheet integrity and oversee key reconciliations.
• Support year‑end reporting, statutory accounts preparation and audit processes.
• Partner with operational teams and budget holders to deliver practical financial guidance.
• Explain margins, cash flow, costs and commercial performance to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning.
• Conduct financial due diligence on new initiatives and growth opportunities.
• Drive process improvement, financial governance and operational efficiency.
• Promote a culture of accountability and data‑led decision‑making.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a financial control or similar finance role.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate data into business insight.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Proactive, collaborative mindset with a hunger to improve and grow.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, office‑based environment.
