Financial Controller

About the role

Alpha CRC is seeking a commercially astute Financial Controller to lead finance operations for its multi‑entity language services group. Based in Cambridge, you will oversee corporate accounting, reporting and cash management while providing strategic insight to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements for all group entities.
• Deliver timely variance analysis and performance commentary to senior leadership.
• Develop and enforce group‑wide accounting policies in line with UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Manage intercompany reconciliations, transfer pricing arrangements and control accounts (salary, PAYE, VAT).
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and implement FX risk mitigation and hedging strategies.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
• Coordinate year‑end audits and maintain audit readiness throughout the year.
• Design and maintain robust internal controls and finance policies.
• Lead finance system upgrades or ERP implementations to improve reporting and automation.
• Identify process efficiencies in AP, AR, payroll and month‑end close.
• Manage and mentor a geographically dispersed finance team, setting objectives and supporting development.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven experience in a multi‑entity, international environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS and transfer pricing principles.
• Demonstrated ability to lead finance teams and drive process improvements.
