Financial Controller

About the role

We are partnering with a family‑owned construction business operating across London to recruit a Financial Controller. Based in Wimbledon, you will own the day‑to‑day finance function and support the commercial direction of a growing company.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts for four entities.
• Manage accruals, pre‑payments, fixed assets and cash‑flow monitoring.
• Lead cash‑management processes, including bank reconciliations and petty‑cash handling.
• Oversee purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Organise payment schedules and support supplier payment processes.
• Support monthly payroll and pensions administration.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with statutory requirements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and wider financial planning.
• Produce ad‑hoc financial reports and analysis for senior stakeholders.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, controls and efficiencies.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Finance Manager or senior finance role.
• Proven ability to prepare management accounts and oversee day‑to‑day financial operations.
• Strong organisational skills and a proactive, self‑motivated approach.
• Confidence to drive positive change and provide commercial insight.
