Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function of a well‑performing, confidential business in Watford. Reporting to senior leadership, you will have full ownership of financial control, reporting, cash management and strategic decision‑making, with genuine influence across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a small finance team.
• Own month‑end and year‑end close, delivering accurate management accounts and board reports.
• Prepare monthly financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow planning.
• Maintain robust financial controls, compliance and governance, overseeing statutory reporting, audit and tax.
• Manage banking relationships, working capital and treasury activities.
• Identify process improvements and drive efficiencies within the finance function.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to provide commercial insight and support business performance.
• Contribute to strategic projects that support the company’s growth.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager role.
• Hands‑on approach with the ability to balance strategic input and day‑to‑day financial management.
• Strong leadership and team‑development skills.
• Commercially minded with excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Proactive, adaptable and able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
