Financial Controller – £60k + £10k bonus

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function of a well‑established engineering and manufacturing business in Woking. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will shape financial strategy, ensure robust controls and provide commercial insight across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day finance operations and maintain strong financial controls.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and deliver insightful financial analysis.
• Produce budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow projections.
• Provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare statutory accounts and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards.
• Oversee payroll processing and related compliance.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and guarantee financial accuracy.
• Liaise with external auditors and coordinate the annual audit.
• Support Company Secretary duties and identify process improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a similar senior finance role within an SME environment.
• Ability to work both strategically and operationally, independently and collaboratively.
