Financial Controller – Real Estate Development (Hybrid, London)

About the role

This senior leadership position sits at the heart of a fast‑growing international real estate development business. Based in Central London with hybrid working, you will lead the EMEA controllership function, partner directly with executive leadership and shape financial reporting, governance and controls across a complex multinational structure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes for the EMEA region under US GAAP.
• Oversee statutory reporting and tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating with external advisors.
• Manage complex consolidations, intercompany reporting and regional financial controls.
• Act as finance business partner to senior stakeholders in Operations, Legal, Tax, Treasury and executive teams.
• Review and challenge accounting treatment of development transactions, joint ventures, management contracts and equity arrangements.
• Support technical accounting matters including revenue recognition, impairments, carried interest and incentive structures.
• Lead audit relationships and ensure compliance within a SOX‑controlled environment.
• Interpret legal and commercial agreements and translate them into clear accounting outcomes.
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives and finance transformation projects.
• Develop and mentor a high‑performing finance team, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• ACA qualified, preferably with Big 4 experience.
• Approximately 15+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience in large multinational organisations.
• Proven experience leading multi‑country controllership functions and working under US GAAP and IFRS.
• Strong knowledge of SOX compliance, statutory reporting and tax requirements across EMEA.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
