About the role

Citywire is seeking a motivated Financial News Reporter to join its fast‑paced editorial team in London. You will break exclusive stories, interview leading industry figures and provide insightful analysis for an audience of financial advisers.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the daily online news service by sourcing original stories and interviewing key figures in financial advice and investment.
• Build and maintain a contact book of influential people across the advice sector.
• Cover a wide range of topics, from regulatory changes to investment trends affecting client portfolios.
• Deliver original, exclusive news that supports Citywire’s subscription model.

Required profile

• Ambitious, curious and eager to learn about the financial sector.
• Prior knowledge or strong interest in finance (preferred but not essential).
• Proven ability to write news stories and features through internships, student journalism or work placements.
• Excellent communication skills for building rapport and explaining complex topics.
• Comfortable working to tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Self‑starter who can work independently and chase news leads.
