Fire Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to join a growing consultancy that provides expert fire engineering advice and develops retrospective fire strategies for a wide range of buildings and sectors. The role involves delivering technical guidance, ensuring compliance with current fire safety regulations, and supporting multidisciplinary project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and implement retrospective fire safety strategies for existing buildings.
• Identify fire safety deficiencies and propose cost‑effective solutions.
• Conduct detailed fire safety inspections and produce comprehensive technical reports.
• Advise on evacuation strategies, compartmentation issues and fire safety system design.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and approval authorities as required.
• Support integration of fire safety solutions across project teams and contribute to new service development.
• Research emerging technologies and drive continuous improvement in fire engineering practice.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and represent the business at industry events.
• Travel to client sites, including occasional overnight stays.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a fire engineering role.
• Strong understanding of fire safety legislation, regulations and best practice.
• Experience developing fire strategies for existing buildings.
• Knowledge of Approved Document B and BS 9999.
