Fire Service College Instructor (Hybrid Delivery)

About the role

The Fire Service College is transforming its curriculum to a hybrid, digital‑first model, aiming to deliver world‑class learning for fire and rescue professionals. As an Instructor you will support this transformation by delivering high‑quality theoretical and practical training across a range of courses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional teaching across FSC courses, fire & rescue service qualifications and private‑sector training.
• Deliver feedback to delegates and act as a syndicate lead when required.
• Ensure health, safety and welfare of learners, colleagues and visitors, including off‑site training venues.
• Support the annual delivery plan by broadening skills and assisting with specialist or out‑of‑scope courses.
• Promote the College’s core values, equality, diversity and a strong health‑and‑safety culture.

Required profile

• Qualified firefighter instructor with experience in a uniformed training environment (preferably Fire & Rescue Service or recognised fire training establishment).
• Strong understanding of the fire sector and working knowledge of the Qualifications and Curriculum Framework.
• Nationally recognised training qualification (AET Level 3 minimum) plus relevant assessor awards; willingness or ability to obtain Internal Verifier accreditation.
• Holds or is working towards SFJ Level 3 BAI, SFJ Level 3 TVI, CFBTI Level 3 or equivalent.
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Proven ability to work effectively within a team and deliver excellent customer service.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
