Fleet Control Senior

About the role

The Fleet Control Senior will lead a busy maintenance control department, ensuring vehicle downtime is minimised and key performance indicators are met. Working from a headset, you will coordinate with garages, service providers and field engineers to keep a diverse fleet operational.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a small team of controllers, scheduling repairs, inspections and field engineer visits.
• Manage first notice of loss (FNOL) situations and chase progress with core and third‑party garages.
• Log repair and maintenance notifications, monitor stock levels and ensure parts availability.
• Analyse repair costs, challenge repair times and differentiate warranty from non‑warranty work.
• Maintain maximum utilisation of the field service team and drive recovery actions after breakdowns or accidents.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fleet or vehicle maintenance control, preferably with HGVs, vans and specialised municipal vehicles.
• Strong understanding of repair costing, warranty processes and maintenance spend management.
• Ability to communicate effectively with service managers, workshop controllers and technicians.
• Leadership skills to guide a team and ensure KPI achievement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Familiarity with automotive authorisation software such as Kerridge, DMS or SAP.
