About the role
The Fostering & Permanence Panel Co‑ordinator will provide high‑level administrative support to the council’s fostering and permanence panels. This position ensures that panel meetings run smoothly, statutory deadlines are met and confidential information is handled securely, contributing directly to the welfare of children in need.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, confidential business support to the Fostering and Permanence Panel and the Agency Decision Maker.
- Maintain and review systems to guarantee panel dates and initial review approvals are completed within statutory timescales.
- Act as the first point of contact for panel chairs, advisors and members, handling all communications professionally.
- Draft agendas, book venues, take detailed confidential minutes and produce full records of panel business.
- Keep the central register of members, confidentiality agreements and statutory checks up‑to‑date.
- Prepare post‑panel documentation, liaise with external professionals and ensure statutory notification deadlines are met.
- Process panel members’ invoices, submit to payroll and maintain accurate records.
- Advise on administrative processes and implement new procedures as directed by Business Support management.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing professional panels or providing PA‑type support.
- Excellent organisational abilities and capacity to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Required skills
- Proficiency in word‑processing applications.
- Advanced use of spreadsheets.
- Experience with database management.
