Fostering Social Worker – Suffolk

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fostering Social Worker to join a dedicated fostering team within a progressive local authority in Suffolk. You will play a pivotal role in supporting foster carers and ensuring positive outcomes for children and young people in care.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake assessments of prospective foster carers, including Form F assessments.
• Provide ongoing supervision, support, and annual reviews for approved foster carers.
• Collaborate with children’s social workers, virtual schools, and partner agencies.
• Participate in fostering panel processes and contribute to decision‑making.
• Support placement stability and promote positive outcomes for looked‑after children.
• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date case records and reports in line with statutory requirements.
• Safeguard children and ensure compliance with fostering regulations and national standards.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work degree or equivalent qualification.
• Registered with Social Work England.
• Significant post‑qualifying experience within a fostering service or children‑in‑care setting.
• Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, legislation, and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent communication, assessment, and report‑writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload effectively.
