French Language Assistant

About the role

The Perse School Cambridge is seeking an enthusiastic French Language Assistant to join its Modern Foreign Languages department from September 2026. The role focuses on developing pupils' spoken French, preparing them for GCSE, A‑Level and DELF speaking examinations, and fostering an appreciation of Francophone cultures.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver speaking activities for Year 9‑11 groups to prepare for the AQA GCSE speaking exam.
• Prepare resources and teach speaking lessons for Lower and Upper Sixth students targeting the AQA A‑Level speaking exam.
• Support Upper Sixth pupils in selecting, researching, and preparing topics for Independent Research projects.
• Work with pairs or small groups of DELF A2, B1 and B2 learners to ready them for their speaking exams.
• Conduct DELF speaking examinations under appropriate supervision.

Required profile

• Native French speaker or graduate in French with near‑native proficiency.
• Well‑organised, engaging and able to inspire pupils of varying ages.
• Accountable to the Head of School, with day‑to‑day reporting to the Director of Modern Foreign Languages and the Head of French.
