French Lecturer – Hourly Paid (Adult Education)

About the role

Oxfordshire Adult Learning (OAL), part of Abingdon & Witney College, is seeking a dynamic French Lecturer to deliver hourly‑paid adult language courses across its Abingdon and Witney campuses and community venues throughout Oxfordshire. The role starts in September 2026 on a fixed‑term contract and offers flexible weekday evening hours.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging French language lessons for adult learners.
• Create inclusive, accessible learning environments that cater to diverse needs.
• Monitor, record and report learner progress throughout each course.
• Participate in professional development and contribute to curriculum improvement.
• Travel between campuses and community venues as required.

Required profile

• Fluency in French with strong subject knowledge.
• Experience teaching French to adults or in a further‑education setting.
• Ability to design lessons that meet varied learner needs.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Commitment to inclusive education and lifelong learning.

Required skills

• Experience teaching French to adult learners.
• Knowledge of accredited language qualifications and assessment methods (desirable).
• Teaching qualification such as PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent (desirable).
