General Assistant - Care Home

About the role

Glenholme is looking for a flexible and enthusiastic General Assistant for its Vera James House, a residential care home for older people in Ely. This is a varied, multi-skilled role where you support the service wherever it is needed, working as part of the wider team so that residents receive a high standard of care in a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the housekeeping team to keep the home clean, safe and welcoming
• Assist with residents' laundry and linen
• Support the kitchen team with preparing, serving and clearing meals
• Help with general duties around the service
• Support residents as a Care Assistant when required
• Work flexibly across departments and shift patterns, including day and night shifts
• Complete any required training and competency assessments before working independently in care

Required profile

• Flexible, adaptable and reliable, able to support different areas of the service
• Caring, respectful and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Willing to learn new skills and undertake relevant training
• Good communicator who enjoys working with people
• Committed to treating residents with dignity, kindness and respect
• Able to adapt duties and working pattern to the needs of the service
• Previous experience in care, housekeeping, laundry, catering or a similar environment is beneficial but not essential

• Pay of £13.00 per hour on a bank contract

The role requires an Enhanced DBS check. Holiday pay is paid separately and shown on the payslip.
