General Merchandise Manager (Part-Time Secondment)

About the role

Sainsbury's is recruiting a General Merchandise Manager for a part-time secondment at its Dewsbury store, covering non-food products. The role sits within the management team that keeps stores running smoothly and delivers a good customer experience. The salary is 32,700 (FTE) and the contract ends on 27 March 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all non-food products so they are presented attractively and delight customers.
• Keep the area running smoothly every day, from the shop floor to the warehouse.
• Manage people: performance and capability, disciplinary actions, and accurate scheduling and pay.
• Occasionally take overall responsibility for running the store, giving colleagues direction and support.

Required profile

• Previous line management experience in a fast-paced, operational environment.
• Customer-focused, able to coach a team to the same standard.
• Comfortable managing performance issues, disciplinary matters and other employee relations cases.
• Able to lead operations independently when senior management is absent.
• Proven track record of delivering on KPIs such as sales, stock availability, customer satisfaction and colleague engagement.
