General Operator

About the role

We are looking for a General Operator to join our Immingham site, processing lead‑acid batteries and other waste materials into recyclable or disposable products. The role runs an 8‑hour shift, combining six hours of active processing with two hours of rest and recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor machinery used for the breakdown and processing of lead‑acid batteries.
• Perform manual lifting and handling of heavy battery units following safety protocols.
• Execute start‑up and shut‑down procedures, maintaining good housekeeping.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and waste‑management licensing regulations.
• Wear and enforce the use of specialised PPE, including acid‑resistant suits and respiratory protection.
• Operate a forklift in accordance with training and procedures.
• Carry out general site maintenance and complete required administrative paperwork.
• Support colleagues and undertake any additional duties as required.

• Ability to work effectively in a team under pressure.
• Positive “can‑do” attitude and good conflict‑resolution skills.
• Physical fitness for repetitive heavy lifting in a high‑temperature, high‑humidity environment.
