General Sales Manager – Automotive Dealership

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Sales Manager to lead the sales department of a successful automotive dealership in Reading. You will be responsible for driving both new and used vehicle sales, ensuring profitability and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the Sales Management and Sales Executive teams.
• Drive new and used vehicle sales performance and profitability.
• Monitor KPIs, forecasts and departmental performance.
• Ensure FCA compliance and adherence to dealership processes.
• Maximise finance, insurance and value‑added product performance.
• Recruit, mentor and retain top‑performing sales professionals.
• Collaborate with senior management to implement business strategies.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a General Sales Manager or senior Sales Manager in the automotive industry.
• Proven track record of delivering strong sales and profitability results.
• Excellent leadership, coaching and team development abilities.
• Commercially minded with strong analytical and decision‑making skills.
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
