Graduate Cover Supervisor – Alternative Provision (SEMH)

About the role

This full‑time graduate position supports pupils aged 11‑16 in an Alternative Provision setting in Rochdale. You will work with young people who have SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs, helping them re‑engage with learning and maintain regular attendance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes and deliver pre‑prepared work without planning or marking.
• Provide consistent support for students with SEMH, autism, ADHD, anxiety or exclusion histories.
• Maintain structure, positive routines and calm behaviour management.
• Build trusting relationships with vulnerable learners.
• Encourage engagement, attendance and focus within the classroom.

Required profile

• Graduate with experience working with young people (e.g., secondary schools, SEND/SEMH settings, youth work, sports coaching, drama, community groups, outdoor education, scouting).
• Strong consistency, enthusiasm and reliability.
• Confident communication and behaviour‑management skills.
• Ability to support teenagers with SEMH needs in a structured environment.
