About the role
The Graduate Environmental Health Officer will join Barnsley Council’s Regulatory Services team, helping protect the health, safety and wellbeing of residents, workers and visitors across the borough. You will primarily work within the Pollution Control Team while gaining exposure to the full range of environmental health activities.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out inspections, investigations and project work to ensure businesses meet regulatory standards.
- Support the Pollution Control Team and contribute to broader environmental health duties.
- Assist in delivering a level playing field for local businesses through compliance monitoring.
- Engage in professional development activities linked to your studies.
Required profile
- Hold or be completing a BSc/MSc in Environmental Health.
- Commit to achieving the CIEH EHO Pathway Qualification within 12 months of start.
- Final‑year students awaiting results are welcome to apply.
- Flexibility to work hybrid and a willingness to develop professionally throughout the placement.

- Salary between £35,412 and £38,220 per annum.
