Graduate Learning Support Assistant – Wirral

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Wirral. This term‑time position offers recent graduates valuable classroom experience and a pathway into teaching, educational psychology or youth work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to students across a range of subjects.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons.
• Offer targeted help for pupils with additional needs, including SEN.
• Help manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
• Support students' academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
• Contribute to lesson preparation and classroom organisation.

Required profile

• Recent degree (graduated or expected 2026/2027) in any discipline, preferably education, psychology or related fields.
• Genuine interest in working within education.
• Patience, empathy and a proactive approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Previous experience with young people is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Effective organisational abilities.
