Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary (Chelmsford)

About the role
We are looking for a recent university graduate to join a mainstream primary school in Chelmsford as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This full‑time, term‑time position offers hands‑on experience supporting children with autism and other special educational needs while working closely with experienced teachers and the SENCO team.
Key responsibilities
- Work directly with pupils who have SEND needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviour using a range of proven techniques.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with parents and caregivers.
- Develop creative activities to keep learners engaged and motivated.
Required profile
- Recent graduate (any discipline, preferably Maths, English, Psychology or a creative subject).
- Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Reliable, flexible and able to commute to or reside in Chelmsford.
- Enthusiastic about improving educational outcomes for SEN pupils.
Required skills
What we offer
- Daily rate of £95‑£100 (PAYE) for a term‑time, full‑time role.
