Graduate Teaching Assistant – SEN Support

About the role

This paid graduate position supports children with special educational needs (SEN) across schools in Leeds and surrounding areas. It is designed for current or recent graduates who want hands‑on experience before applying for a PGCE.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group support to pupils with SEN, behavioural or emotional needs.
• Assist classroom teachers with lesson preparation and delivery.
• Cover staff absences and work flexibly across different settings, including SILC, SEMH and mainstream schools.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support plans.

Required profile

• Current or recent university graduate interested in a teaching career.
• Willingness to work flexible hours that fit university timetables.
• Commitment to safeguarding standards and willingness to undergo DBS checks.

Required skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to support children with diverse learning and behavioural needs.
• Organisational skills for managing multiple placements.
