Group XRF Technical Support

About the role

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Group XRF Technical Support to join our team in Liverpool, UK. The group XRF teams use both wavelength dispersive and energy dispersive XRF spectrometers to analyse a broad range of materials and commodities for our clients. The department provides a critical function of AHK's laboratory services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support in method development for new commodities.
• Actively support method improvements to existing methods.
• Deliver operational support to meet day‑to‑day laboratory requirements.
• Ensure high accuracy and precision by applying good laboratory practice and adhering to documented methods.
• Assist laboratory staff with technical problems and troubleshooting alongside the Group XRF Technical Chemist and Manager.

Required profile

• Good knowledge of XRF and practical experience applying it.
• Strong team player with a collaborative approach.
• Able to critically review technical information, identify root causes and propose solutions.
• Highly motivated, able to work under own initiative in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to develop laboratory skills and promote knowledge sharing.
• Organised, flexible and able to meet deadlines.
• Proven time‑management, quality‑driven and proactive.
• Minimum two years experience in a laboratory setting.
• Experience using both WDXRF and EDXRF techniques.
• Higher college or degree‑equivalent education.
• Foreign language skills beneficial but not essential.
• Willingness to travel worldwide for site support, audits and training.
