HDU Recovery Lead Nurse – Private Healthcare

About the role

The HDU Recovery Lead Nurse will manage the day‑to‑day operations of the High Dependency Unit and Recovery areas in a reputable private hospital in Central North London. Reporting to senior clinical leadership, you will ensure safe, high‑quality post‑anaesthetic and critical care while leading a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and lead the HDU and Recovery units, supporting Duty Managers and Ward Managers.
• Provide supervision, mentorship and performance reviews for nursing staff.
• Deliver outreach support to wards for acutely unwell patients.
• Plan and deliver individualized, evidence‑based patient care.
• Maintain a welcoming, safe environment for patients and families.
• Act as Duty Manager when required and collaborate with consultant users.
• Organise and present teaching sessions and mentor staff.
• Conduct risk assessments in line with hospital policies and national regulations.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (UK NMC) with teaching/mentorship qualification.
• Post‑graduate Critical Care qualification.
• Experience as a Recovery Nurse and in a Critical Care setting.
• Background in independent healthcare and clinical audit.
• Strong organisational, written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage time, prioritise duties and lead others.
