HE Health Lecturer (Clinical/Nursing)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced health professional with a clinical or nursing background to join Newcastle College’s Higher Education team as an HE Health Lecturer. The temporary assignment starts in September and will continue until a permanent appointment is made.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive teaching sessions for higher‑education students.
• Create learning resources that reflect current clinical practice and professional standards.
• Assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate records.
• Offer tutorials, academic guidance and support to students throughout their studies.
• Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve the learner experience.
• Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and health‑and‑safety at all times.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Health, Nursing or a related discipline.
• Current or recent clinical or nursing experience.
• Teaching experience in further or higher education (desirable).
• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
• Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of current healthcare practice and professional standards.
